The winner of the World Nobel prize is against legalization of drugs

07.11.2012

Rigoberta Menchu Tum, the famous human rights activist, the winner of the World Nobel prize and the honorary member of the World League “Mind Free of Drugs” sharply criticized the politics of the Mexican government to legalize drugs.

«Mexican authorities are simply trying to distract the world from the real problems in the country by the liberal approach to this issue,- the human rights activist stated.- This issue requires the participation of the whole society and not only the directive instructions of the state.

Besides the attention of the whole society to this issue, Rigoberta Menchu Tum considers that salvation of such eternal values, such as spirituality, humanity and social responsibility are extremely important to stay in the consciousness of people.

“I don’t impose my ideas to the society, but it’s extremely important for the authorities to pay attentions to this. The measures on drug legalization were already undertaken in Guatemala, but it absolutely didn’t change the situation”, she concluded.
